(Art4Us ‘The Postcard’ exhibit 2/26 – 22×40 Digital Print) This piece asks the viewer to judge whether visual artists will be replaced in the 21st Century. Its title refers to Marcel Duchamp’s ‘readymade’ urinal of 1917 and uses mined ‘readymade’ images from public Web engines – “slop” in tech jargon. The images profile various current Artificial Intelligence sites (unconscious algorithms) that can create from text any image in whatever style requested. The simple prompt used (Plato’s Cave) is derived from the exhibit theme. Plato’s allegory is meant to illustrate how people can be trapped in ignorance, only seeing shadows of reality rather than the truth. The metaphor is suited to the role of AI in today’s society and the effects it may have in the future of Art.Lake Audubon in Winter – 24×51″ – Acrylic on YupoWind over Mountains – 24×51″ – Acrylic on YupoSunset near Thousand Islands – 24×51″ – Acrylic on YupoStorm Clouds over Franklin Farms – 24×51″ – Acrylic on YupoTaughannock Falls at Dusk – 24×51″ – Private Collection
The gallery is really nice and some beautiful paintings. Are those landscapes yours, too?
Miss not coming to see all of you and Mimi after the last Bar Mitzvah and remember when the lights went out and had to stay with Mimi’s neighbor. I had a great time. By the way, I came across the Valdevense Awards, 2011, in Youtube and you looked so GUAPO. I was so proud and showed to Nathan, my husband and he said , yes that is correct. Saludos a todos.
Nice work!
Remember Vampman and Batboy?
